About

Ane Brun (Ane Kvien Brunvoll, born March 10, 1976, in Molde, Norway) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and guitarist of Sámi heritage, internationally recognized for her atmospheric, poetic pop and folk with experimental undertones. Now based in Stockholm, she has released over ten studio albums since her debut Spending Time with Morgan (2003) through her own label, Balloon Ranger Recordings. Her breakthrough came with A Temporary Dive (2005), which showcased her raw vocals and timeless songwriting, earning her a Spellemann Award for Best Female Artist. Since then, she has continually expanded her sound with acclaimed projects like It All Starts with One (2011), and the twin albums After the Great Storm and How Beauty Holds the Hand of Sorrow (2020), both highly praised across Europe. In May 2025, she released the single “Two in This Story”, the first glimpse of her forthcoming 11th studio album. The song explores the pain of lost friendships with jazzy electronic minimalism, driven by her evocative voice and cinematic soundscapes. Brun describes her music as a way to process relationships and her own vulnerability, maintaining a soft optimism even in the face of betrayal. Ane Brun’s sound is defined by clear, emotive vocals, melancholic arrangements, and atmospheric textures—from resonant acoustic guitars to droning synth layers—balancing fragility and strength. Her music often feels intimate yet dreamlike, carrying emotional weight without needing to be loud. On stage, she frequently collaborates with string sections, choirs, and visually creative productions, while also performing solo in stripped-down settings where the music takes center stage. Ane Brun’s artistry thrives on quiet intensity and lyrical introspection. With her upcoming album and recent single signaling a new creative chapter, she continues to push her boundaries and invite listeners into deeply emotional sonic worlds.
