For Artists

Forktone pulls artist data from open music databases. Here's how to make sure your information, photos, genres, and links appear correctly.

MusicBrainz

Artist name, genres, tags, official links (website, Bandcamp, YouTube), and discography.

Visit →
  1. 1Create a free account at musicbrainz.org.
  2. 2Search for your artist name. If you exist, click Edit to correct any information.
  3. 3If you don't exist yet, click Add Artist to create your entry.
  4. 4Add your official website, Bandcamp, and YouTube channel under the Relationships tab — these appear as direct links on Forktone.
  5. 5Add genres and tags to your artist page so listeners can find you through genre browsing.
  6. 6Changes go live on Forktone within 24 hours.

Last.fm

Listener counts, genre tags, and artist biography.

Visit →
  1. 1Create a free account at last.fm.
  2. 2Search for your artist page and click Edit Wiki to update your biography.
  3. 3Add or correct genre tags on your artist page — these feed into Forktone's genre system.
  4. 4Encourage fans to scrobble your music to increase your listener count.

TheAudioDB

Artist photo and album artwork shown on Forktone.

Visit →
  1. 1Search for your artist at theaudiodb.com.
  2. 2If you're missing, you can submit your artist via their contribution form.
  3. 3Upload a high-quality artist photo and album artwork — these are the primary images Forktone displays.
  4. 4TheAudioDB cross-references MusicBrainz, so make sure your MusicBrainz entry exists first.

Deezer

30-second audio previews on your artist and album pages.

Visit →
  1. 1Distribute your music to Deezer through a distributor such as DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, or Bandcamp.
  2. 2Once your music is on Deezer, Forktone will automatically pull 30-second previews for your top tracks.
  3. 3If your artist profile has incorrect information on Deezer, contact Deezer artist support at deezer.com/en/artist.

All of the databases above are free and community-maintained. Keeping them accurate helps every music discovery tool that relies on open data — not just Forktone.
