Jelena Karleuša

Jelena Karleuša (also known simply by her initials “JK”) is a famous Serbian pop singer and fashion designer. Once a columnist, Jelena become well known for her remarks in support of the LGBTQ community, as she was the first Serbian figure to openly endorse such people. Although she is sometimes coined as being of the pop or dance genres, most Eastern-Europeans know her to be of the “turbo-folk” genre. Her debut album was titled Ogledalce and was released in 1995. Jelena Karleuša’s fame has increased rapidly since that time and she has released eleven albums to date, the most recent being “Diva”. Jelena continues her efforts to aid the LGBTQ community and is often referred to as the “Serbian Lady Gaga” due to these gay rights efforts and also due to her notably platinum blonde hair.
