Rey Sapienz

Rey Sapienz (real name: Bahati Sapiens Moïse Dhekana) is a producer originally from North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo and currently living in Kampala, Uganda. In 2012 he left Kivu for Uganda with the goal of recording an album there. Sapienz offers a contemporary electronic take on popular Congolese dance styles such as soukous and kalindula. His debut EP was "Hakuna Kulala" (2018), followed by "Mushoro" (2019), both on the Hakuna Kulala label, which Sapienz co-founded. He is one half of the duo Troposphere 7.
