About
Richard Smallwood (born in Atlanta, Georgia, on 30 November 1948; died 30 December 2025) was an American Gospel music artist remembered for forming The Richard Smallwood Singers in 1977 in Washington, DC, and for his songwriting. World-class composer, pianist and arranger, Smallwood clearly and solidly changed the face of Gospel music. He impeccably blended classical movements with Traditional Gospel, and devised at a mix that was invariably Smallwood's alone.
