April Harper Grey, known professionally as underscores, is an American musician. Grey grew up in San Francisco. She became interested in composing and recording music at the age of six, and cites Skrillex as an early influence. underscores, who started releasing music as a teenager on SoundCloud in 2013, gained recognition with the release of her single "Mild Season" in 2015. Over the years, she independently released several EPs, including skin purifying treatment (2018), we never got strawberry cake (2019) and character development! (2020).
