Disco France
French record company and manufacturer founded in 1949, and operating under this name until 1989. Since 1956 the company operated a vinyl pressing and plating (later also cassette duplication) plant in Saussay. In the 1970s and 1980s the company was part of a group called Audio Graphic Industries (AGI), which also owned and . By the early seventies the company had about 15% of the French market. In July 1989 the plant became independent under the name "Disco France Industrie" (). The plant had an in-house galvanic department and pressed black / colour 12", 10" and 7" records, with paper labels and / or (from May 1978) injected 45s moulded labels. For those, it used special injection-compression presses manufactured by sister company M.A.P., each of which could produce up to 380 discs an hour. This was a significant advantage compared to its competitors as it required less personnel. Also appears printed on releases as "Disco-France", "Disco/France" or "DiscoFrance". Note that the latter version also occasionally appears on releases; please credit the correct plant based on the chronology. Pressings in the pre-1979 era often show a O0() mark. In these cases, please add agi in the runouts instead of any interpretations of the mark. Additionally, they show some DF (PPID) and / or uppercase AGI marks. Pressings in the post-1978 era often show a Δ (Delta) or ⩓ (A) symbol. In these cases, please add [AGI logo] in the runouts instead of the symbol itself. Use Pressed By. Occasionally, the etched ‘EXP’ can be found in combo with their own striked-out IDs in the runouts (e.g. : [A̶G̶I̶ ̶l̶o̶g̶o̶], a̶g̶i̶, A̶G̶I̶). They are standing for the metalparts they supplied to other pressing plants. In this case, list a Plated At role in LCCNs, not Pressed By. Disco France has also added the electro-plating dates in the runouts, e.g. 783, 80_1, 81-6, 82/2, 87.1, etc., indicating year and month the metal parts were supplied (please do not add as release date). An offset printer called DCNI was implanted on-site in July 1987 for the production of related printed matter. Jacket and label printing was previously provided by France Imprimerie Sorel, belonging to the same group. President: Jean Bergé. Sales Manager: Simone Fritschke.
