GEL is the acronym for Gravações ELétricas, created to replace the illustrative "Discos Continental" logo in company credit texts located in the footnotes on the back covers of releases from 1981-82 GEL is also the logo/brand used by the company to identify their records when not using their own labels. It Appears as a primary Label on releases with cat# prefix 1-15: 1-15-20x for radio-publicity records, 1-15-40x for company compilations on 12" LPs, and 1-15-90x for 7" or 12" singles by artists on the label as yet without a defined label. The GEL logo may appear on releases in association with other label brands such as Continental or Chantecler. In these cases use only the label created for the association of logos: GEL Continental or GEL Chantecler
