Established in August 1955 by Marcel Rodd, originally to press and distribute a catalogue of nursery rhymes and bedtime stories. Later the company acquired the catalogue of the Concert Hall Record Club, the leading American manufacturer of budget line classical music. To distribute the records, Rodd established a mail order business with huge success and by the late 1950s Allied had grown into a successful manufacturer and direct-to-consumer distributor. In 1960 Allied bought the bankrupt Saga Records Ltd., including its large catalogue and in the 1970s they acquired Trojan Recordings Ltd. and along with it the catalogue of Trojan Records. The company was dissolved in the late 1980s and the plant was closed.
