Swaggie Records
Australian label established in 1949 by the five members of the Graeme Bell co-operative band, Graeme Bell And His Australian Jazz Band. The co-founders were Graeme Bell, Roger Bell, Ade Monsbourgh, Don "Pixie" Roberts, & Lou Silbereisen. The first recordings for the Swaggie label were made with the Australian Jazz Band at the AWA Sydney studio on October 24, 1949. Swaggie records, for their first decade, mainly documented Australian jazz. In 1952 Swaggie was sold to Nevill L Sherburn. They became well known internationally in the early 1960's when it issued the extensive Jazz Collector Series of vintage jazz reissues drawn primarily from major American companies. in 1980 Nevill added the 12 inch LP series Vintage Jazz Archives. 2015 saw the sad passing of Nevill. Long term friend Bill Armstrong AM who worked on many of the recordings with Nevill bought Swaggie Records & Swaggie Music with it now owned by Bilarm Music For some publishing credits, please use , or when stated that way on release
